GIS Day is this Wednesday (Nov 20th) and there are a few events across the province that you can check out!  Everything you need to know about GIS Day can be referenced at www.gisday.com.  Check out their interactive map showing GIS Day events around the globe.

COGS is hosting some special events in honor of GIS Day.  For more information, contact Dave MacLean.

The Nova Scotia provincial government GIS User Group is hosting a GIS Day event at Scotia Square Mall during the work day.  Come by on your break or lunch hour to see how various departments use GIS to support their initiatives.

GANS will be hosting a GIS Day event at the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History that evening, featuring a great line up of speakers, celebratory cake, door prizes and free give always!  Don't miss out.  The event is free to members and $10 for non-members/guests.  Event details can be found HERE.

Remeber that no matter your location or your availability on GIS Day, you can always find time to spread the word of GIS.  Take a minute to talk to a coworker who may not fully understand what you do, talk to your child's teacher, mention it to sibling or a parent.  Help promote awareness around GIS.

    Happy GIS Day to all!

This interesting collection of maps demonstrates how GIS can be applied in presenting topics not normally associated with Geography.  From controversial mayor Rob Ford to the Ghostbusters and everything in between, these maps are refreshingly entertaining.  Which map is your favorite?  Check out the gallery HERE.
